Do I deprive my children?

As I picked up my 7 yo son from school today, he was walking through the rain sticking his tongue out to catch the rain drops. This is a normal enough childhood behavior but, as he got in the car I told him to be careful and step over the chocolate milk because I had just come from the local dairy.
"Oh Good," he replied sounding ever so relieved, "I was so thirsty was trying to catch the raindrops for a drink".

At least I have taught him to be resourceful.

1.nice people at our little local dairy
2. staying up late painting with friends

  1. I wondered the same thing on Tuesday when it was revealed that I do not have playdough or a sandbox. To add to the list James got marker on his hands and ran off to wash them. The observer said, "Oh mom has trained you well." I think she (social services) is getting a big case against me.

  2. Ok...so really everyone knows that your son is adequately liquified by his nurturing, caring mother. I feel like I am doing a pretty good job with my children as well. The dogs and plants in my home? Well...that's another story. You KNOW the dogs are lacking when you let them out to go potty and they spend 5 minutes eating the snow or drinking from muddy puddles - oops, are their water bowls empty again?? How about my plants that I am continuously trying to revive? Still working on these areas...

  3. becky- we don't have pets (other than occasional round of tadpole shrimp) because I fear my own distractible artist brain will be negligent -- and plants well i had to turn watering over to my husband because i am a plant killer...
